Keep areas out of bounds with the Virtual Guard

Want to clean around a pet or sleeping children? Simply select the NaviBot's Virtual Guard feature which ensures it doesn’t enter these out of bound areas. Once programmed, an infra red barrier is created which the robot cannot cross; limiting the areas it can clean. There are three distance settings, allowing you to choose the robot’s cleaning boundaries, or alternatively use the Virtual Guard function to prioritise the cleaning route. Using this feature, you can choose for one area to be fully cleaned before another is started to give you greater control over the robot’s cleaning pattern. The SR8855 model has two Virtual Guards.

Recharges automatically and resumes where it finished

Recharging items can be a nuisance that is all too often overlooked until the last moment. The NaviBot doesn’t require you to remember to recharge it as it does so automatically with no user intervention. When it runs low on battery, the robot returns to its charging dock where it re- energises for two hours. This provides the NaviBot with 90 minutes worth of charge and then it returns directly to the place where it finished avoiding repeated cleaning. The NaviBot has 99 per cent success in returning to its charging station, compared with a 50 per cent return rate for a leading competitor model.

The NaviBot has seven different cleaning mode options to offering cleaning flexibility. These consist of:

Triple brush system improves dirt pick up

Removable and washable HEPA filter
The NaviBot uses a triple brush system to ensure the maximum pick up of dust, dirt and pet hair from wood and laminate floors to short and mid pile carpets. The two side brushes rotate to loosen the pile of the carpet and sweep any surface debris into the path of the main brush. These 'road sweeper'-type brushes enable it to clean right up to edges and in to corners with ease. The bristles of the main brush then help to propel pet hair and dirt into the suction path, aided by soft rubber teeth that also help to trap and collect hair and debris.

Ensure maximum removal of dust and allergens from the air thanks to the NaviBot's HEPA high efficiency air filter. This filter is easy to change and its user friendly design makes it easy to operate, requiring the simple touch of a button to release. It's located within the 0.6 litre (l) capacity dust bin housing.

Sleek and easy to use

The SR8855 comes in a contemporary mirror blue finish and is easy to use with touch controls.

Manufacturer's Description

The Samsung SR8855 NaviBot Robotic Vacuum Cleaner offers an efficient, innovative way to clean your home. Its Visionnary Mapping technology uses an onboard camera to capture images of the area to form a virtual map of the cleaning zone, helping it plan the most efficient route. And while in progress, its 38 sensors ensure you won’t have to supervise it, instead working to prevent it from colliding, falling or getting tangled in wires. Programme it from entering certain areas with the Virtual Guard feature which creates an infra red barrier the NaviBot can’t cross and choose from its six cleaning modes to best suit your cleaning needs.

Visionnary Mapping designs the best cleaning route

The NaviBot is equipped with an onboard camera, which prior to cleaning, takes a picture of the room’s ceiling. The camera, capable of capturing up to 30 frames per second, creates an image which is then used by the vacuum cleaner to produce a virtual map of the cleaning zone. This map directs the NaviBot in its cleaning of the room maximising its efficiency with an approach that’s methodical and focused. This prevents it from missing any areas and as it remembers where it’s already cleaned, stops needless repeat cleanings saving time, energy and money.

Multi sensors for effective and safe cleaning

With 38 sensors directing its path, the NaviBot is constantly alert to its surroundings. This information helps direct its movements ensuring it makes a safe and effective path around your home, keeping your involvement to a minimum.

    Sensory functions include:
  • Anti-collision. Protecting your furniture are the vacuum’s infra red anti-collision sensors which detect obstacles. If in edge mode, it will approach an obstacle and stop before impact.

  • Anti-fall. Stairs aren’t a problem with the NaviBot. Its multi sensors detect when it’s about to fall and so it immediately stops and quickly shifts into reverse.Touch sensors. If you wish the NaviBot to clean up to the edges of your furniture, programme it to edge mode. When in edge mode, the robot’s sensors alert it to approaching obstacles and it slows down, bumping lightly into the obstruction with its soft rubber bumper. It will gently try to push the obstacle out of its path and then, if it’s unable to do so, will clean around the edges.
  • Anti-tangle. If it becomes entangled in wires, the NaviBot will stop and reverse its brush rotation to free itself. Helping it manoeuvre in tight spots, its wheels are also spring-loaded enabling it to travel over obstacles up to 15 millimetres (mm) in height, such as door sills, rugs and wires.
  • Auto. Cleans the area and then returns to its charging station once complete.
  • Max. Cleans the area until it has almost depleted its battery and then returns to its charging dock.
  • Manual. Control the NaviBot manually using the remote control.
  • Spot. If a smaller area is particularly dirty, select the spot mode which instructs the NaviBot to clean a 1.5 metre (m) x 1.5 m section of the room.
  • Edge. Cleans right to the edges of a room.
  • Delay start. Programme the NaviBot to delaying starting by up to 23 hours. This delay start timer allows it to clean when you are out of the house or busy elsewhere.
  • Daily Schedule. Plan its cleaning schedule by the day, ensuring it cleans any day of the week while you’re not in the house.
